Clues From the Past
In this section, we focus on the poem that goes with each illustration of a Rue-si performing the technique. Originally written in Old Thai and featured in the Samut Thai Khao, the poem translates to English as something like this:
“Rue-si Anitthikhan frowing, rolling eyes. The wind (wata) causing stiffness/tightness on both hands as well as tingling/aching pain. Fold the knees, sit, consider, thinking about bending.. as if curled body, bending fingers, worship/pray/respect like a figure of divinity/deva (pose).”
This may not make sense to you upon first glance. However, try to find any keys that may be hidden in the words.

How To Do This Technique
Treatment of Wrist Trouble
Begin by standing upright and joining your palms together in front of your chest.
- Inhale deeply and press both hands firmly together.
- Contract the muscles at your arms, chest, and abdomen while exhaling slowly and relax, pressing the fingers from side to side.
- Repeat this exercise several times.
- All breathing during this exercise should have deep inhales, and slow exhales.

This technique is intended to provide treatment of wrist trouble caused by wind or “wata” and can be done independently for that purpose. However, it can also be combined with other techniques in a preventative maintenance routine for your body.
